Sponsorship Of Orphans And Taking Care Of Widows
SSponsorship of orphans is one the issues that our nice religion stipulates for. It makes it one method of curing the diseases of human spirit. By it, the society shows the fraternity course set for by Islam. We would like to highlight that the sponsorship of orphans is not confined only to sponsor them financially but it means also dealing with all the affairs concerning them, from education, guidance and advice. It also means doing all that related to their personal life: eating, drinking, clothing, treating and so on. Sponsoring an orphan is one of the greatest works of philanthropist that Islamic law “sharia” induces and urges for. Allah (SWT) said, “They will ask thee as to what they should spend on others. Say: “Whatever of your wealth you spend shall (first) be for your parents, and for the near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarers. And whatever good you do, verily, God has full knowledge thereof” (2/215). Allah (SWT) said, “Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him, and do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (you meet) and what your right hand possesses: for Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious.” (4/36)
There are also a lot of narrations (hadith) said by Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) concerning sponsorship of orphans and doing good to them. One of these is the (hadith) of Sahal Bin Saad who said, “Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said, ‘I and that who sponsors an orphan will be in paradise like this. He gestured by his index and middle fingers and he separated them”. Narrated by Bukhari.
Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said, “If one joins an orphan of the Muslims to him in his food and drink until he (the orphan) is satisfied, paradise is a must for him”. Narrated by Abu Ya’aly, Tabarani and Ahmed.
Abu Eldardaa (Allah satisfied with him) said, “A man came to Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) complaining of cruelty in his heart. Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said to him, “Do you like your heart to be kind and what you need will be done? Be kind to an orphan, touch his head gently and feed him from your own food, then your heart will be kind and what you need will be done.” Narrated by Tabrani and Elalbani said that it was good.
Abu Horaira (Allah satisfied with him) said, “Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) said, ‘That who takes care of a widow and a poor is like the combatant (mujahid) in the cause of Allah, and I think he said he is like the one who stays all the time worshiping Allah without fatigue and as the fasting man who never breaks his fasting.’” Narrated by Elbukhari and Muslim.
And there are a lot of other narrations (hadith) by Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) relating to the same issue.
The idea of the project aims to give support to the families of the orphans through providing them with financial help that is given per month to secure decent life for them. It also aims to cover their essential requirements from medical treatment, education plus providing them with essential elements on different occasions like Ramadan and the two eids. We do not forget the beginning of the school days putting into consideration their living conditions. Furthermore, we share with them their happiness when they succeed and excel in their education. We have also moral contact with them.
The number of the sponsored ones by the “Organization” reached (10.000) orphans in all the states of Sudan. They are distributed as follows: Khartoum (1803) orphans, Gezera (1586) orphans, Darfur states (1772) orphans, Blue Nile and Sennar states (1437) orphans, Red Sea, Kassala and Gadaref states (1036) orphans, Northern State (121) orphans, River Nile (557) orphans, White Nile (630) orphans and (1058) orphans in Kordofan state.
